SPORT LEADERS INSTITUTE OF ZAMBIA TO HOST MARAKIDS FUN RUN AT INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL OF LUSAKA (ISL)
Sport Leaders Institute of Zambia (SLIZA) in collaboration with the International School of Lusaka (ISL) and other stakeholders will host the 2024 MaraKids Fun Run on Saturday 13 July 2024 in commemoration of the Day of the African Child. The Fun Run will take place at ISL and surrounding roads and will involve young people including children with disabilities from 5 to 14 years old to participate in a fun run consisting of a number of distances with the longest being 2.5km.
There will be other activities including fun and movement games with the objective of promoting a healthy lifestyle among young people. The race has been endorsed by Zambia Athletics which will assist with the technical aspects including rules and regulations for the event.
The run will involve 1000 kids from different schools and communities accompanied by their families and friends. Other activities planned include fun and movement games for children and adults, kids’ athletics conducted by athletics coaches, health education and tests, exhibitions and stalls showcasing various child friendly goods and services.
All participants will be provided with a goodie bag, water, branded t-shirt and medals. There will also be entertainment with some Zambian artistes and Define Lifestyle Fitness will be on hand to conduct aerobics for different age groups.
Officials from the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Art, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health will be invited to grace the occasion. There are also plans to engage stakeholders from National Sports Council of Zambia and National Olympic Committee of Zambia to be part of the Opening Ceremony.

Please be informed that part of the proceeds from the event will be donated to vulnerable children at Yasheni Homes and Multipurpose Centre.
